INFORMATION ABOUT THE TECHNICAL INSPECTION

What is a technical inspection, and why is it important?

The technical inspection is a mandatory procedure in which experts examine the condition of a vehicle to ensure it complies with traffic safety and environmental regulations. The goal is to ensure that every vehicle on the road is in a safe and technically sound condition.

What do we inspect during the technical inspection?

During the inspection, the following areas are checked, among others:

• steering gear
• engine, transmission, and drivetrain
• brakes, handbrake, shock absorbers
• exhaust system, emissions
• chassis, bodywork, corrosion
• lighting and signaling devices
• indicator lights, dashboard
• seat belts, seats, airbags
• tires, rims
• windshield, wipers
• vehicle identifiers (VIN, engine number, license plate)
• mandatory accessories (first aid kit, warning triangle)
• cooling, fuel, and lubrication systems
• interior condition

Technical inspection fault assessment

We distinguish between three types of faults:

• Minor fault: does not affect compliance, repair is necessary, but the vehicle can pass the inspection.
• Serious fault: the inspection is unsuccessful, the vehicle must be re-inspected within 2 months after the fault has been repaired.
• Dangerous fault: a serious fault that results in the immediate withdrawal of the vehicle from traffic. The registration certificate is invalidated, and the authorities must be notified.

How long is the technical inspection valid?

• For new vehicles: 4 years
• For used vehicles: 2 years
• Taxis: annually
• Classic cars: every 5 years

A new inspection may be required for certain modifications (e.g., color change). The expiry date can be found in the registration certificate.

How to prepare for the technical inspection?

1. Check when your technical inspection expires (registration certificate).
2. Don't leave it to the last minute, book an appointment in time, as servicing may be required beforehand.
3. When you arrive, please place all headrests in the car, and if you have a tow hook, it should be on the car.

Documents required for the technical inspection

For individuals:

• ID card
• address card
• registration certificate
• power of attorney (if you are not acting in your own name)

For corporate clients:

• registration certificate
• power of attorney
• company extract (first page)
• specimen signature

For those acting with a power of attorney: the written document must contain the data necessary to identify the owner and the authorized person (name, date of birth, address, ID card number). The required form is available from us.

If you don't want to be re-inspected due to a rejection, ask us for a preliminary check. After identifying any faults, our service center will carry out the necessary repairs, giving you a much better chance of passing the inspection.
